Culture Shock Dance Center is a multi disciplined performing arts academy that offers safe and comprehensive training in dance and various performing arts techniques.

We are located at 2110 Hancock Street, on the second floor, west of I-5, near the Old Town exit. We occupy 7800 square feet in a three story building, which consists of three dance studios. Our neighbors in the building include an upscale hair salon, a Birkram yoga studio, a day spa and a Pilates studio.

Culture Shock Dance Center offers classes for all levels ranging from pre-school developmental classes to professional master classes for adults.

Culture Shock Dance Center is the home of Culture Shock Dance Troupe, a nonprofit professional hip hop dance company and youth outreach program, founded in 1993. Culture Shock Dance Center programs offer one of the most extensive contemporary dance programs in Southern California. The San Diego Union Tribune refers to Culture Shock as the "epicenter of hip hop dance in San Diego". Classes include all levels of Hip Hop, Breakdance and Cardio Hip Hop. In addition to that other classes include jazz, from beginner level to advanced, Salsa, Belly-dance, Afro-Braziliian, Tap, Striptease-cardio and three nights of open floor dancing in Break-dance, Popping and House. Many of these classes are taught by working professionals, dancing, choreographing and directing in the entertainment industry. Our youth program offers 8 week sessions in Hip Hop and Ballet/Tap Combo.

Our goal is to give the aspiring dancer and performer the best training and most useful tools needed to work in all capacities of the entertainment industry. There are no other dance studios in San Diego that offers the diverse programming and professional level of classes and instructors we do.
