Gabe Masson has
a signature high-energy style, he has created a unique approach
to dancing that is rigorous, expansive and sometimes mind-blowing.
Based in the style of modern master Jose Limon, the class employs
traditional ideas from an untraditional point of view and dares
to delineate the difference between self-involved and self-determined
dancing. Emphasizing “why” as more important than
“how”, the mover is freed to experience dance as
a metaphor for life—as an open invitation to fly.
Gabe Masson has enjoyed a 20-year career as a choreographer,
performer and teacher. He has toured the world in the companies
of Hannah Kahn, Rosalind Newman, Lucinda Childs and Doug Varone,
as well as dancing in specific projects with various choreographers
including Peter Pucci, Mark Morris and David Dorfman. Since
1989, he has choreographed over 25 pieces for repertory and
university dance companies and from 1998-2001 he served as artistic
director of his own company, Gabriel Masson Dance (GMDance),
a national touring company. |
