Dance
classes at Culture Shock---
All adult classes are
continuous and ongoing. Students may start classes at any
time. Youth classes are taught in 8 week sessions, registration
is required.

Hip Hop Dance Classes
Culture Shock Dance Center is proud to be the home of the
world famous hip hop dance team Culture
Shock San Diego Many of our teachers are members of
Culture Shock San Diego. In addition to these teachers we
have assembled a teaching staff that represents the most cutting
edge and original hip hop dance styles. This is the real deal,
pure hip hop dance. Culture Shock Dance Center takes great
pride in having the most comprehensive, diverse hip hop and
contemporary urban dance program in Southern California.
Classes include:
Cardio Hip Hop Basics A great
entry level class for the beginner as well as a great workout!
Hip Hop Dance
Beginning, Intermediate and Advanced levels.
Youth Hip Hop (ages 6-12), a
class designed for students from age 6 through 12, beginning
and intermediate levels.
Youth Hip Hop(Ages 4-6), a special
class for younger children eager to bust a groove.
Break dance, we are one of the
only studios in California to offer this original, urban dance
style
Jazz
Dance
Culture Shock is also home to the spectacular jazz company,
Unity Dance Ensemble, directed
by Tessandra Chavez and Theo Ivey, who also teaches Advanced
Jazz. Our jazz staff is joined by Unity member Sara Shepich,
Darius Irby and many guest teachers.
Classes include:
Jazz dance,
Beginning, Intermediate and Advanced levels.
Pre-school
Combo, a great introduction to dance for younger
children. The class includes ballet, tap and song. For 2 and
3 year olds.
Kindergarten Combo,
a continuation of the class above for ages 4 to 6.
Specialty Classes
A collection a various dance classes that add to our eclectic
schedule-
Salsa, Beginning and Intermediate
levels taught by Juan Carlos Hernandez of Majesty in Motion
Tribal Fusion Belly Dance, taught
by Sabrina Fox, a great and fun workout with an exotic flair
Afro/Brazilian Dance, an upbeat
class and a great workout combining authentic Brazilian dance
choreography with live musicians. This class is 90 minutes
and is $15.00.

YOUTH
CLASS POLICY
All
youth classes are taught in 8 week sessions. There
will be no drop-ins for single classes. The eight week sessions
are to be pre-paid at $80.00 for one class a week. We will
also accept two payments of $45.oo. Payment is due at registration.
There are no refunds after first day of class.
There are NO EXTRA REGISTRATION FEES!!
Missed classes or classes that fall on holidays can be made
up in any similar class or an immediate family member can
use the make-up class for any class on the schedule.

About the flooring---
"The best floors in San Diego"
Dance is a very physical activity that requires a lot of jumping,
which can put stress on bones and joints. Most dance footwear
does not provide any cushioning or support, so the shock of
dance movement can place a lot of pressure on the knees and
back of a dancer. The best way to prevent against potential
injury is by choosing a studio with a professional “floating
floor”. A floating floor is a dance floor that rests
on a system of high-density foam, to absorb the shock of jumping.
A high-density foam base is superior to a “sprung”
floor, which usually consists of a wood structure built on
the regular floor.
At Culture Shock Dance Center,
we have taken it a step further by installing the latest technology
in floating floors, the Neoshok
Flooring System, a floating sports
floor that offers high resiliency, uniformity and the best
shock absorption on the market today. Built on a multiple
layer polyurethane pad, the floor is topped with a high grade
maple finish that allows for versatility, durability and a
safe surface. This surface combined with our sub-flooring
will reduce injuries and fatigue. It quite simply is the best
dance floor you will find in San Diego.
