Angie Bunch and Joe Savant
 

The Culture Shock Dance center is a partnership, owned and operated by Angie Bunch and Joe Savant.

Angie Bunch has been in the dance world for over 20 years. She is the founder and president of the Culture Shock Dance Troupe, founded in 1993, here in San Diego. Culture Shock, a nonprofit professional hip hop dance company and youth outreach program now has companies in Los Angeles, Oakland, Las Vegas, Chicago, Atlanta, Washington DC and New York. International companies are in England, Switzerland, Portugal, France, Italy and Canada.

Angie has taught dance at Mesa College for the last 18 years and at Grossmont College for the last year and a half. Her classes continue to be the most popular in the physical education departments of these schools and are always filled to capacity.
Angie is a former NIKE fitness pro and had a 12 year relationship with NIKE, teaching and presenting dance/fitness programs all over the world.

Angie operated her own studio, the Culture Shock Training Academy from 1998 through 2001. That studio brought dance enthusiasts from all over the world to train with the Culture Shock dancers. Located at the Navel Training Center in Point Loma, the Academy closed its doors when the city took over the land at the NTC.

Angie is recognized and sought after both nationally and internationally in the dance and fitness world. She continues to teach world wide for various events such as ECA and IDEA World. She has been profiled in Dance Magazine and Dance Spirit Magazine. She has received numerous local and national awards for her contributions to dance. Her students are involved all over San Diego County, teaching in after school programs. Many of her students are performing in all media for many of today’s top recording artists.

Angie is a pioneer in dance and has taken hip hop dance to a different level, making it accessible to the San Diego community and abroad.

Joe Savant is a theater professional. He has worked as a dancer, singer and actor for nearly 25 years on stage, in films and on television.

Joe spent 8 years in New York working on Broadway in such shows as Beauty and the Beast, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat and Peter Pan. He has toured nationally and internationally in various productions and has worked with such celebrities as Debbie Reynolds, Toni Braxton, Elton John, Bea Arthur, Cathy Rigby and others. In New York he has worked with some of Broadway’s most talented directors and choreographers, including Jerry Mitchell, Kathleen Marshall and Rob Marshall, director of the film Chicago.

Since moving to San Diego in February 2001, Joe has continued to perform in various productions locally, nationally and internationally.

Joe is a graduate of The Musical Theater Workshop at the Los Angeles Music Center. He has studied with some of the industry’s best teachers including: Bill Schuman, voice; Craig Carnelia, vocal performance and Joanna Beckson, Miesner technique acting. Throughout the years Joe has taught master classes for various performing arts schools and programs.

Joe is also a licensed real estate agent, with SDL Real Estate in Temecula, CA. He recently opened a San Diego branch, SD Habitats with partner Channing Luke-Silver.
