4 Things every student and parent should know before choosing a dance studio.

What type of dance floor is used?
Dance is a very physical activity that requires a lot of jumping, which can put stress on bones and joints. Most dance footwear does not provide any cushioning or support, so the shock of dance movement can place a lot of pressure on the knees and back of a dancer. The best way to prevent against potential injury is by choosing a studio with a professional “floating floor”. A floating floor is a dance floor that rests on a system of high-density foam, to absorb the shock of jumping. A high-density foam base is superior to a “sprung” floor, which usually consists of a wood structure built on the regular floor.
At Culture Shock Dance Center, we have taken it a step further by installing the latest technology in floating floors, the Neoshok Flooring System, a floating sports floor that offers high resiliency, uniformity and the best shock absorption on the market today. Built on a multiple layer polyurethane pad, the floor is topped with a high grade maple finish that allows for versatility, durability and a safe surface. This surface combined with our sub-flooring will reduce injuries and fatigue.
It quite simply is the best dance floor you will find in San Diego.

Convenient Scheduling Options (Tired of running between activities?)
Families today have very busy and sometimes conflicting schedules. Different age children have activities that will keep parents driving all afternoon. At Culture Shock we have arranged our schedule to save you time in your busy schedule. Kindergarten, Youth and Adult beginner classes are scheduled in the same time block so the whole family can take different classes at the same time, in one of our three different studio rooms. And the family that dances together also saves money! Family members can share classes on the same numbered dance card package. So join the many San Diego families saving valuable time and money by scheduling different classes in the same time block.

Extra Fees
Most dance studios charge registration fees, late fees, make up fees, etcetera. At Culture Shock you are charged for the classes you choose to take, when you choose to take them. Our class cards are valid for one year from purchase. Most studios give you 30 to 60 days and what you don’t use, you loose. We believe our students should get all the classes they are paying for.

Customer Service
In many studios the teacher or the studio owner conducts classes and does the administration. By trying to do two jobs at once, the class may suffer as the teacher has to use class time for customer service issues, or the studio may have no customer service available if the teacher is in a class. To have a good experience it is important to choose a studio that can assist you, even if a teacher is occupied in a class. Our studios have desk staff on hand during all regular class times, so you can get immediate assistance.
